Why I Came To Thailand

November 30th, 2009

I first came to Thailand in 2004 and I came here more of less by accident. I had travelled a lot in Europe: Russia, Western Europe, Scandinavia, North Africa and north South America, but I had never found the time to travel to Asia.

One night, I was chatting to a friend who had travelled extensively throughout the world and he was telling me about his favourite country, to where he had been returning year after year for fourteen years. Knowing the man’s experience as a traveller, I was very taken aback to hear that he had been choosing to go to the same place in Asia for fourteen years.

I had to ask him which part of huge Asia held such an attraction for him and he said Thailand. I knew next to nothing about Thailand, except that I had had a few meals at a near-by Thai restaurant over the years. I also knew from collecting stamps as a boy that it used to be called Siam. Anyway, my friend asked me if I’d like to go. I answered that I would ‘one day’ and meant it.

He surprised me by stating that he was going to Thailand for a month soon and that I was welcome to go with him, if I wanted. I replied that I had a couple of jazz festivals to go to soon and maybe I would, if there was at least a month between them and if I could get a flight and if… I could hear myself putting him off, but I did not know why I was delaying.

A few hours later, I went home and being an avid Internet surfer, I checked out a bit about Thailand on the travel brochure sites. It looked truly fantastic. The prices were good too except for the flights. Hotels were cheap to reasonable and food and drinks prices were low compared to where I lived. So, I checked the dates of the two Jazz festivals and they were thirty-three days apart. Now for the flight. I spent well into the next morning checking flights and discovered one for the day after the first festival leaving from our local airport. It was not the cheapest flight, but it gave me more time.

In an impulsive moment I booked it there and then online. I then found a pub with rooms to let online that my friend had said he went to on quiz evenings and guessed that they would be open by now serving breakfasts. I sent them an email and a reply came back twenty minutes later. I had been lucky again. The boss was in the middle of checking yesterday’s figures, when he saw my email come through. However, not sure of his Internet ability, he wanted me to phone him right away. I checked my watch, it was still 4AM so I phoned.

He accepted my booking on trust and so I did not have to make a payment. I had heard about Thailand, made up my mind to go and booked the flight and room all within five hours and I could not wait for nine o’clock to come to inform my friend that I would be going too.

Education becomes more and more expensive evevery year. Because of this, a great number of students have to apply for scholarships and grants in the form of financial aid for college to supplement their income whilst in college.

Fortunately, there are already various ways to get financial aid for college scholarships to assist these students. The main providers of financial aid for college are the government, individuals, non-profit organizations and private organizations.

However, not all people are familiar with the methods of accessing the information they need when applying for this financial aid for college scholarships. Basically, listed below are the possible methods you can employ to find the ways of applying for financial aid for college scholarship:

First, you can do a college scholarship search in the search engines: type in “college scholarships”. Appraising Your House The Right Way

November 29th, 2009

If you are one of those individuals planning to move to bigger houses because you intend to settle down and begin a family, then you may be inclined to sell your home. But among the hurdles that you have to overcome are those of setting the right price.

Even if you are investing in real estate with the intention to resell the house, getting the price is no less challenging.

You should realize that there should be a difference between your acquisition cost and selling price. With all the factors taken into account, it is likely to be lower, but not necessarily. You can remodel and give the house a brand new look, both interior and exterior to make it appear more expensive than it really is, but even with that you will be in a quandary on how much to to dispose your property. The good thing is that there are professionals who can be tapped to help you appraise your house.

It would be wise to acknowledge the reality that all the possible buyers will negotiate hard for a low price. It is but natural that they will negotiate a lower price than what you will suggest to them as the starting point. To make this a winning situation for you as the seller, you need to adjust the asking price by a little percentage. You have to ensure that the price is neither too steep so as to discourage all potential buyers from asking about the home, nor too low as to emphasize your expected selling price after the bargaining process is complete.

In a nutshell, these are some of the important factors that you need to make when you sell your house. They say a little guided knowledge can see you through a long way, and this tip can put you in the right direction.

Attractions And Activities In Arlington

November 28th, 2009

Did you know that Arlington Texas is conveniently located between Dallas and Fort Worth Texas and has a lot to offer! The city has over 4,000 acres of park land, 5 recreation centers, 49 tennis courts, 6 swimming pools, 44 miles of park trail,

These are some of my favorite sights and sounds in Arlington.
1. Dallas Cowboys stadium is extremely impressive, it seats 80,000 comfortably and can be increased to 110,000 people. The stadium is fully enclosed with a retractile roof and can be used for many different venues. You can get a tour of the stadium which takes about an hour and well worth it!

2. There is Six Flags over Texas which is fun for the entire family! If you haven’t ever been before to a Six Flags then this is the time to go and try one out! With tons of exhilarating rides for adults and kids your sure to have a great day!

3. The Country Peddler Show comes to Arlington Convention Center in March, August and November every year. People from all around converge to sell just about anything you can imagine. Among the menagerie of goodies to be found are stained glass, stepping stones, homemade jelly, specialty clothing, candles, handmade quilts … and too much more to list!

4. Daired’s Salon & Spa Pangea is the only facility in the DFW area to offer a hair salon, full service day spa, caf, and conference center … all under one roof! Their spa combines holistic wellness, fitness, and nutrition services which compliment the traditional services you would expect to find at other spas. The hair salon offers expert stylists with training in hair color, unique and traditional hair styling techniques, and makeup advice. The caf employs a personal chef who prepares each menu item fresh daily.

5. Alley Cats a great place to take the family! You’ll find 24 lanes of bowling, a rock climbing wall, laser tag, billiards and a video game room with over 100 games! Our nephew has his birthday party there and everyone had a blast, but this place isn’t only for kids. They also offer special pricing for corporate events and have a full catered menu and full bar. I really like the place because it’s smoke free so you don’t have to stand around inhaling second hand smoke!

Arlington Texas has something for everyone! So come and enjoy yourself.

If you’re planning on a stay in Arlington then why not save yourself some money and time buy going to Arlington Cheap Hotels. There’s no point in spending more money than necessary that’s the great thing about Arlington Hotels!

Chief Factors to Consider for First Time House Buyers

November 28th, 2009

Purchasing a house especially a spacious one, is a big deal since there are so many factors to be considered. It takes a long list for all to be taken up here, but there are major points that you should not overlook.

The assumption is that not everybody can afford to invest on a property, and for those with resources, these are the factors that they are supposed to consider.

First is the location of the property. There are so many neighborhoods that can fall into the criteria that you are looking for, and you need to screen out those you like best. Your work place matters and you must note that when scouting for your house for proximity and convenience.

You must realize that good prospective neighborhoods come at an elevated price tag so you do need to budget a little extra if you are sure that the neighborhood or suburbia where you relocate is is a good cluster. If the area is in the growing phase and has the probability of becoming a popular place in the near future, you are in for a bargain, but that all hinges on the expertise of your real estate agent and how good his negotiation skills are.

Speed is important when acquiring a house. One reason is that if you fail to respond right away, you leave the house with a thousand possibilities of being bought by someone else. This is where instinct is allowed to play its full course. If you have a good gut feel for a house, it could be a good decision to just get it right away and if you are not keen with your decision later, you have the option to resell your property, normally at a better deal.

Fashionable Dog Names

November 28th, 2009

Fashion appears to decree everything these days. From what you wear to what you call your dog, everything you do is dictated by the requirement to be cool. Cute dog names are hard to come by and even harder to choose. This is because as soon as something is in fashion, than it is out again.

Who would want to choose a cool dog name that may not be fashionable tomorrow? So, people tend to play it safe, which is why the same names have been so popular for so long. To try and break that cycle, five cute dog names are listed below with the reasons why you should choose one of them for your dog.

Phoenix: What could be cuter than a bird that goes up in flames and then rises from the ashes? Phoenix is one of the cute dog names that will never go out of fashion because it is rooted in mythology. It has a timeless quality which has somewhat surprisingly failed to increase its popularity.

Star: Star is one of the cute dog names because it has so many connotations that you can have a hard time finding out where to begin. A star in the sky is a phenomenon and a star can refer to someone that outperforms in a certain field. It is indeed a high form of praise and therefore is definitely a cool dog name.

Lady: Lady is one of the most popular dog names but it is also one of the cute dog names because of the Disney cartoon film, Lady and the Tramp, which was a massive hit. The film made the name popular but also gave it some credibility. In this case, popularity comes second to coolness.

Elvis: The coolest of cute dog names. Elvis Presley was definitely cool and remains cool today even after his death. It is immeasurably cool to call your dog after such a tremendous icon who has never gone out of fashion himself.

Shadow: There is a dark and mysterious quality about Shadow that makes it a cute dog name. It would be best used on a large breed of dog however, because it wouldn’t have the same striking effect with a small one.

Whatever cool dog names you consider for your mut, it is one sure way to give your dog an identity of their own and make your dog unforgettable to others.

How To Use Dairy Produce: Part 1 – Milk

November 28th, 2009

The Basic Preparation Of Foods: Dairy Produce

These basic tips may seem unnecessary for most modern households with a refrigerator, but modern devices can make people lazy and it is well-worth while knowing ‘why’ we must do certain things. It is also worth remembering these tips when refrigerators are not at hand or are so small that they will not hold everything, such as when camping or boating or on holiday in some parts of the world.

MILK:

Milk has been called ‘nature’s perfect food’, because no other food, taken alone, can support adult life. It is of the first importance for the growth and development of young people, but it must be clean as bacteria also find it very nourishing and quickly multiply in it. If milk is not bought pasteurized, then it should be scalded and quickly cooled before consumption.

How To Scald Milk: Rinse a clean saucepan with cold water, pour in the milk and apply heat until bubbles form around the side of the pan. Keep it at this temperature, that is not letting it boil, for 3 minutes. Do not overheat, as milk burns easily. Pour immediately into a clean jug and place in a basin of cold water and cover with a fine cloth to prevent the ingress of flies and dust.

How To Keep Milk Fresh: If milk the is not be preserved in the receptacles in which you bought it, pour it into a clean container, which has been rinsed with cold water. A warm receptacle will cause the milk to stick to the sides and go off much more quickly. Always keep milk covered and in the coolest place in the larder. it is a good tip to remember that draughts usually occur at ground-level and that hot air rises. Never keep milk in an airless cupboard and in hot weather stand the milk in a container in a bowl of water with the cloth covering hanging in the water. The muslin will soak up water, which will evaporate, which dissipates the heat, ensuring that the container remains cool. Keep milk away from strong-smelling foods, as it absorbs smells easily. Never mix old and new milk together.

Sour Milk: Milk straight from the cow is slightly alkaline, but as it ages, lactic acid is formed and it becomes what we call ’sour’. Pasteurizing or scalding the milk slows down this process. Milk which is ‘just on the turn’ can be revived by boiling with a pinch of bicarbonate of soda to restore the alkalinity. Once the milk has gone too far and has curdled, it can be strained through (cheese) cloth, thereby separating the curds from the whey. The curds can be used as a filling for cakes, tarts, scones etc and the whey can be used as the liquid for making scones, cakes and soups etc., as it still has much goodness.

Evaporated Milk: Evaporated milk is ordinary milk, which has had some of its water content driven off by heat in some form or another before being placed in its container. Once reconstituted by adding water, it will last only a little longer than fresh milk does.

Condensed Milk: This form of milk is merely evaporated milk to which sugar has been added before being placed in its container. The sugar acts as a preservative and preserve the milk for about a week. Do not keep in the tin, but decant it into a jug or bottle.

Dried Milk: Dried milk comes is available in a variety of forms and particular attention should be paid to the instructions on the label. Niche market products can be bought especially for babies, invalids, convalescents and dieters, all of which contain varying amounts and types of added vitamins and minerals. Usually, they contain a great deal less fat than normal milk.

The Link Between Anger and Depression

November 27th, 2009

Depression and anxiety are said to be the causes of uncontrollable anger. When a person is constantly worried about things they have no control over or even things that they do have control over, it often causes severe depression. If you have the feeling, there is no way out then your depression can affect your life and cause you to sink into a wave of despair.

Taking charge of your emotions usually produces good results. If you feel that the world is tumbling down around you, then you are almost definitely thinking negatively, which brings on depression and anxiety. In this short piece, we will reveal some techniques to help you cope with anxiety and depression, thus preventing uncontrollable anger.

First, let’s take a look at the symptoms. Do you feel like you are going mad? Do you shout in your head: ‘I cannot cope any more?’. Do you feel like someone is out to get you? Do you think people see you as a crazy person? If you are suffering from any or all of these symptoms or thoughts then you are probably suffering from anxiety and depression.

If you can not find a way to think in a different mode, then you will probably get mad when your emotions start to get out of control and your anger gushes forth. Instead of telling yourself that you are going mad, why not tell yourself that you are only having a temporary emotional problem and that you need to resolve the situation. Take a look over all your problems carefully and search your memory to see if there are answers to them there. A review like this, often opens doors to resources you may have overlooked.

If you feel like someone is out to get you then you might have a chemical imbalance or even a mental illness. Why not visit your doctor or a mental health expert to learn more about your symptoms and find a way to gain control of your life. Anxiety and depression can trick your mind but sometimes the thoughts are only a result of a chemical imbalance.

If you think that people think you are going crazy, you might care to remember that most people have their own problems and have no time to analyze you as a person or your life. When you walk into a room and think that people are staring at you, you might want to remember that people observe things around them, making sure everything is OK and then return to their own private lives.

If you feel like you can take it no longer, pick up your knapsack and walk another mile. When times are difficult, it does not mean it is the end of the world, although sometimes it may seem this way. If you are struggling to pay bills, fighting to hold a family together, or having problems with your kids then remember we all have these problems at some time in our lives.

Are your children driving you nuts? If they are, take a break. Go do something entertaining or exercise. This often relieves the stress that leads to anxiety, depression and anger. Your life is too short to worry about the things you do not have control over. If you have problems, the answers are within you, so it pays to review your mind.

If you are struggling to obtain your goals then you might want to break your goals down to smaller segments and work slowly to achieve them. If you set goals within reason, you will not need to stress your mind finding a way to achieve them.

It is important to treat yourself every day. Learn some coping responses that will benefit both your mind and your body. If you feel bogged down, you might want to take deep breaths say,ten times.

Stretching out on a sofa to watch your favourite movie can benefit your mind and body, if you want to de-stress yourself. Learn to concentrate on what you are doing instead of worrying about what you are not doing. This often clears the mind and allows you to relax.

If you are subject to unbridled anger, you will most probably have problems for the remainder of your life unless you learn to master your emotions. Remember that depression leads to uncontrollable anger.

Doctors now admit the link between anger and depression, find out more on our website at Treating Depression Get a totally unique version of this article from our article submission service

Getting a Mortgage Is Not Only For Contracted Workers

November 27th, 2009

It’s a sad fact confronting our real estate market today with the everyday news of foreclosures happening everywhere. There is one group that is always tired of their destiny when it comes to obtaining a mortgage and that is the self employed. These are the individuals that count on themselves for their daily needs, and because the assurance of getting the monthly payment is not always there, mortgage lenders are wary about having faith in them.

But you do not need to worry since the probability of you as your own boss is completely real. But there are some things that you must do earlier to ensure your odds of getting one. The primary and most evident factor is your reliability. Your credit rating has to be outstanding above everything else. If you have any loans taking place, you have to guarantee that you make all the required payments also. This will provide your mortgage lender a reason to have faith in you because you have established your value in the past.

Saving for your first home is suggested especially when you are self employed. You shoud be able to make that first down payment, 5% at the very least. However if you want to record even higher points, be in a position to clear 10% of the initial payment and that would be awesome.

Your lender needs to be informed that you are in the situation of making all the needed payments. That signifies that you need to have a kind of proof of income.

If you work through the internet where a check is not always given, you should rely on the proof of income form that is provided to you by the tax body, like the IRS for Americans. With these it’s not totally impossible to acquire a loan, and it earns you more points when you have been self employed a longer period.
